The United States have warned the People’s Defense Units (YPG) – the PKK’s armed wing in Syrian Kurdistan – that it will not protect it against Turkish attacks if YPG intervenes in the Idlib war. Murad Yetkin, a journalist from Turkey’s Hurrayat journal, writes about the Syrian Army’s war Idlib saying as the US asked the YPG not to interfere nor support the Syrian army, otherwise it will stop supporting it against the Turkish attacks.
Perhaps this is why Mustafa Bali, a spokesman for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) – affiliated with the PKK – announced some days ago that their forces were not in Idlib and would not intervene.
Some Kurdish experts believe because the Syrian army has reached near the border with Afrin, under the control of Turkish-backed terrorist groups, so YPG must support the Syrian army against Turkish-supported terrorist groups. They believe this US warn proves YPG is not independent.
