The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) led by Massoud Barzani continues to cooperate with Turkey to prevent the activities of the PKK which has also become a threat to the Kurdish Region. The KDP is trying to limit the group’s activities in the Kurdish regions of Syria. PKK’s activities are threatening for the Region and Europe by deceiving and recruiting European leftists and extremists and to train them militarily in Syria. These people are returning to their home country after terrorist training and, according to experts, are a serious threat to European security.
In the latter case, the KDP arrested a Swiss member of the YPG in Duhok, who is said to have been without a passport. PKK-affiliated media has called him a leftist but has not mentioned his name. Europeans usually travel with passports through Erbil or Sulaymaniyah airports. In some countries, such as the United Kingdom, they are arrested and tried upon their return, but some countries have not yet realized the importance of these threats to their security.
