According to the Iranian Kurdistan Human Rights Watch (IKHRW) and the “Afrin Missing Women Organization”, in its December 2020 report [1], the new statistics on the abduction of Afrin women and girls by terrorist groups affiliated with Turkey are high. According to this report, 128 young women and girls have been kidnapped by Turkish-affiliated terrorist groups so far. Eight women and two young girls were abducted in December, the organization reported, while seven people had disappeared, two released and one killed. The “Afrin Missing Women Organization” also says that three of these women are Yazidis.
Selwi Ahmad. She was 17 years old when abducted.
The accused groups, affiliated with Turkey and also fighting in Libya (having Salafi-Brotherhood ideology), are the main perpetrators of these crimes include “Ahrar al-Sharqiya, Filaq al-Sham, Lashkar al-Hamza, Jabhat al-Shamiya and Lashkar-e-Sultan Murad.”
According to the organization’s report, the actual number of kidnapped women is probably higher than 128. International organizations and competent international authorities, as well as the Turkish government, have not yet reacted on the report. Given Turkey’s deep enmity against the Kurds, abducting the women and girls from farms and homes is likely to be an organized policy to change Afrin’s demographic and ethnic population.
