An organization, affiliated with the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK), has reportedly abducted another child in Syrian Kurdistan, a local source said on Sunday.
The 16-year-old girl was reportedly kidnapped by the organization of Jwanen Shorishger, also known as the Revolutionary Youth, in Derik area, Syrian Kurdistan, as the PKK-affiliated continues to recruit teenagers and prepare them for armed conflicts.
A local source familiar with the developments identified the child as Sadra Ahmed, 16, from Fatuma village, in Derik, adding that she has been taken to a PKK military base.
This comes despite the fact that the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has an agreement with the United Nations to prevent child recruitment in northeast of Syria.
The PKK-affiliated organization has kidnapped scores of children in Syria since the beginning of 2021, the majority of whom have reportedly been sent to the military bases Qandil and Sinjar.
