The PKK and its branches are active in various fields of terrorism from economic terrorism, digital terrorism to narcoterrorism and environmental terrorism or ecoterrorism. The group has established a branch called the Initiative of the Fire Children, whose sole purpose is to set fire to forests in nature and to people’s homes and cars on the streets.
The Initiative of the Fire Children has set fire to the forests of the Belen region in the southern Turkish province of Hatay in its latest case. The group has claimed responsibility for the ecoterrorism and threatened to set fire to more areas. The group has destroyed hundreds of hectares of forests so far.
