Elizabeth Tsurkov, a human rights activist and postdoctoral student in political science, posted a photo of an 11-year-old Kurdish girl on her Twitter account, along with a photo of her birth certificate saying as:
An 11-year-old girl was abducted from the town of Amuda, Northern Syria. The family, whose several members have already been killed, says the child was abducted by PKK-affiliated Syrian Democratic Forces.”
Syrian Democratic Forces kidnap children for recruitment in PKK armed wing. It continues to recruit children while human rights organizations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the Syrian Human Rights Observaroy have repeatedly criticized the presence of child soldiers in the PKK. They have warned and called on countries supporting the Syrian Democratic Forces to put pressure on the group to release these children.
