In a special news item, the Iranian Kurdistan Human Rights Watch (IKHRW) announced in April 2021 that “Turkish security forces had killed a former bodyguard of Murad Karayilan, commander of the PKK’s armed wing”. The Turkish Interior Ministry said in a statement that the terrorist, Horam Awiyer, whose real name was Hassan Mahmoudi, had been killed. According to the statement, the terrorist was on the red list and he was one of Muray Karayilan’s bodyguards.
Firat News Agency, the media organ of the PKK / PJAK terrorist group, confirmed the identity of the killed man on May 1, 2021 (about 20 days after the IKHRW, citing Turkish sources, announced the news).
It is worth mentioning that Hassan Mahmoudi, code name Horam Awiyer, was an Iranian Kurdish citizen from Sanandaj city and one of the former bodyguards of the PKK senior commander Murad Karayilan.
The interesting thing about the PKK statement is that the group has made the announcement of the death of its Iranian members conditional on their identification confirmation. Previously, this way was not used in the PKK media. Of course, the PKK has remained, as usual, silent about the fate of the body of this Iranian member. The Organization has not yet announced when and at what age he joined the PJAK and the PKK.
